Sandy-Special Needs!

Adopted!

Sandy is a smaller Lab and is very sweet and loving.  She just wants to be with you all the time to get all the attention that she has missed out on before we took her into rescue.  She gets along well with other dogs, good indoors, and truly enjoys going for walks with her foster parents.

Sandy is a real special girl that is looking for that special family to love her forever.

Sandy's facial scar has completely healed and she is more beautiful than ever. Her seizures appear to be controlled with Sodium Bromide (very inexpensive medication) and has not had a seizure since June 2002. Sandy is very playful and can live a happy life on medication that controls her seizures. We are looking for that special family for Sandy that can take her into their home and give her love and attention forever.

Sandy is a 2 year old purebred female yellow labarador. She is very sweet and affectionate, and loves to be petted by people (last time she went out for a walk, 21 people stopped to pet her in less than 45 minutes!!).

Sandy has almost fully recovered from surgery for a cyst (see before and after pictures). The cyst was benign, but the surgery cost ARF $400.00.

In addition to the cyst, Sandy currently is being evaluated for a RARE seizure disorder that is not typically seen in these cases. She already has undergone several expensive diagnostic test, but the results have been inconclusive. Although her seizures are currently being managed through trial medication, she will need more follow-up in order to fully diagnosis the cause of her seizures to appropriately treat her.

ARF's goal is to raise enough money to continue diagnostic tests to determine the cause of her seizures. These additional tests can cost up to $2000. If you would like to sponsor Sandy and help us continue with diagnostic testing to determine the cause of Sandy's seizures (to provide appropriate treatment), please click on "Make a Donation" for Sandy.
