Destiny-adopted!

Destiny is a 1 y/o black female purebred Labrador. Destiny was selected to be a Urban Search and Rescue Dog because she possesses the behavior that is a rare find in dogs to perform this kind of work. Unfortunately, Destiny was returned to us 2 months later because it was discovered on her hip x-rays that she has mild left hip dysplasia. Because of this, she cannot be a working dog where a lot of strenuous climbing and exercise is required to perform as a search and rescue dog. It was determined upon orthopedic examination that she CAN BE a wonderful pet while being maintained on Glucosamine and a Buffered Doggie Aspirin and by avoiding any excessive weight gain.  Both the Glucosamine (purchased at a discount warehoue) and Buffered Asaprin are very inexpensive.

A passive exercise, like swimming, can also be beneficial for dog with hip dysplasia.

Hip Dysplasia can be a common finding in dogs and cats and can be managed medically, delaying or avoiding any surgical intervention. Please read about Canine Hip Dysplasia at http://www.spinone.com/hipdysplasia.htm

Destiny is an extremely playful and an enthusiastic dog. She does not present with any limitations and can do what most pet Labs can do. She should probably be an only dog so that she can do all her playing with her human friends. Destiny could benefit by training as any young Lab would require.

A beautiful girl that needs a good home as a wonderful pet.

Adopted, September 2002.
