Amigo, Buddy, or Pal -- however you
say it, this boy wants to be your lifelong friend. Amigo is an adult
yellow Labrador Retriever mix weighing about 65 lbs give or take. He
is a really nice size for a Lab, and he has come into his own as far
as being out of the chewing, teasing, teenager stage. Amigo is
mature and seems to know some basic obedience such as sit, down, and
leave it. Amigo is confident and trustworthy enough to be at home
while his family is at work. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't like
some human companionship during the day if one works from home or is
a homemaker!
What would make Amigo thrive the
most is to have someone around interested in kicking a soccer ball,
or throwing a tennis ball for him. This boy lives to play and be
active. He won't nag you to do this, but if you show signs of giving
him some outside playtime -- you will have his undivided attention.
Amigo would do well with active kids age 8 y/o and up. He is good
around all kids but having someone around that can kick up their
heels with him in the backyard would make his life complete.
Amigo does need some additional
training though. He pulls on leash and we feel a confident
owner/walker along with a Haltie or Gently Leader Lead would correct
this. In general, leash training and basic manners on leash is what
he needs -- not much, just a little fine tuning. He's strong, so his
human needs to be firm, kind and strong as well. We are unsure how
Amigo does around cats at this time.
So, if wanting a happy go lucky
Lab is what your family desires then consider Amigo. If he can find
a family that will commit to his training needs, you will get
nothing less than a happy dog that parents and kids can have a blast
with, and you will see many smiles -- not only on your kids faces,
but Amigo's too.
