Monroe
Meet Monroe, our new little ray of sunshine. Monroe is an adult aged chocolate
Labrador retriever mix weighing in at exactly 70 lbs. Just look at how happy
this boy is. And what a contagious smile.
Monroe has every reason to be happy. He finds himself in the fine company of a
caring foster Mom as well as another dog, a senior female whom Monroe likes very
much. We have been told he's been a fine boy inside thus far, and he really likes
his new backyard for exploring too. He has ridden well in the car and has also
liked the other dogs he has met recently. At this time we don't know how Monroe
feels about cats.
There's another reason behind Monroe's smiles too. Up until several days ago he
was living at a local shelter. He was far from smiling then -- bewildered that
such a thing had happened to him. All that time he thought he was being a fine
companion to someone.
But that person's loss is going to be someone else's gain as Monroe loves to give
kisses, does well on leash, knows "sit" and really does seem like an all around
happy go lucky boy.

Smokey
This is
“Smokey”, a 68 pound, mature adult, neutered, Golden Retriever/Black
Labrador who has a spirit heart that will enchant you!
In
spite of Smokey’s neglected past, he harbors absolutely no ill will
towards humans. This incredibly friendly dog is ready for a second
chance and he certainly deserves it!
Smokey will need to be given a lot of very structured and always
supervised introductions to what the world is all about. He will
have to be taught how to be an inside dog and what having a “home”
really means. He will need to be taken on regular leash walks and
slow introductions to the sights and sounds that are waiting for him to
explore.
He has
been in “training” for four weeks since being rescued. He is walking
well on a leash, sits on command, loves to be brushed and loves hugs!!!
Ideally, he would enter a home where he is the only dog or perhaps with
one other dog. The family would need to spend time daily with him in
“training”and on walks; especially initially. Foster home ok too!!!!
Help us
write a happy ending to this story! We need a home by 8/31…
